Girl Scout Investiture

Families should be sent invitations two weeks before the ceremony.
Evening ceremonies are suggested to give working parents an opportunity to attend. Try to give each girl a Kaper (job) such as: 4 girls in flag ceremony, hand out programs, greet guests at the door and show them to seats, serve refreshments, clean-up, etc.

Daisy Investiture Ceremony

The girls can carry a yellow Daisy center to middle of stage area – one on each side – six feet or more from center.  Leader on left could use small table for a bowl of Daisy Girl Scout pins and certificates. Two girls can carry Daisy Petals and place by leader on the right of the center stage.

Leader welcomes families and introduces herself and her co-leader.

Start with a flag ceremony.

Then have all the Daisies line up in a single line on stage.

The first girl on the far right peels off, comes to the leader on the right who hands her a daisy petal. The girl goes to the center, hooks clothespin on the end of the petal to wire around the center of yellow center. The girl sits at the edge of the petal. Each girl in turn gets a petal and hooks it to the center. When the daisy is complete, the girls stand. As the Daisy Girl Scouts stand, they lift the Daisy they have made holding their petal, forming a circle and say or sing;

Round and round our petals turn,

Begin our Girl Scout life to learn.

Daisy – Daisy Girl Scouts are we,

We will grow and serve – you’ll see.

The girls line up one after the other, raise their right hands and with the help of the leader, say their Girl Scout Promise in unison.

The girls sit down. One remains standing and goes to the leader on the left who pins on her Daisy Girl Scout pin. She gives the GS handshake, is handed a beginning certificate, and a daisy flower which she can take to her parents and join her family. When all girls are pinned, refreshments are served.

This is just a sample Investiture ceremony. Each leader can modify it or come up with her own ceremony. The basic idea is to let the girls recite the Girl Scout Promise and pin the Daisy pins on the girls so they become official Daisy Girl Scouts. The ceremony should include a flag ceremony, family, and refreshments.
